A mobile app is designed to be used on smartphones, tablets or any other mobile device. The Professional edition of WebSite X5 lets you manage your websites with the WebSite X5 Manager app, which is available for both iOS and Android and can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store and from Google Play. The buttons and the QR Code for accessing the stores and installing the app can be found in Step 1, in the WebSite X5 Manager window and in the WebSite X5 Manager section of the online control panel.

Click to expand/collapseHow to add a Site

Once you have installed and started the app, you need to create the list of websites that you want to manage via the app. There are 2 ways of adding a website to the list:

Add the website manually

If you choose this option, you have to fill in a form with the website’s URL and your administrator credentials (assigned in the Program’s Access Management window).

Add the website using the QR Code

Scan the QR Code in the WebSite X5 Manager section of the online control panel. The QR code already contains all the necessary information.

You can only use this app to manage websites created with WebSite X5 Professional as from Version 13.

The following information is given for each website in the list:

the associated logo (indicated by the Login page logo option in the Control Panel window);
the website’s title (indicated by the WebSite Title option in the Website Settings window);
the website’s URL (indicated by the WebSite Address (URL) option in the Website Settings window);
the button for accessing the app’s Website settings screen.

When the list is ready, tap on the website you want to work on to open its dashboard.

Click to expand/collapseHow to set notifications

One of the most interesting features of the WebSite X5 Manager app is that you can enable push notifications to alert you of new events on your websites and keep you constantly updated on what is happening on them.

If you want to enable and set up push notifications, this is what you do:

Go to WebSite X5's WebSite X5 Manager window and select the Enable push notifications option.
Publish the website online.
Start the WebSite X5 Manager app and tap the Website settings button of the website you want to work on.
In the Website settings screen, you have to enable/disable the push notification you want to receive.

If push notifications were not initially enabled in WebSite X5, but were enabled later, in order for them to start being sent you must:

Select the Enable push notifications option.
Publish the updated website online.
Go to the app’s Website Settings screen where all the notifications appear disabled: enable the ones you want to receive.

If WebSite X5's Enable push notifications option is not enabled, you won’t be able to enable notifications in the app’s Website settings screen. If it is enabled, you will be able to choose the notifications to enable/disable in the app.

You can receive a push notification with the app when:

a new order arrives in the online store,
stock levels for a product fall below a set minimum quantity,
a new comment is published for the blog or the Comments and Ratings Object,
a new user registers on one of your websites.

Tap on the notification to access the section in the WebSite X5 Manager app that is linked to the event. If, for example, you receive a notification of a new order, go to the E-commerce cart section in the app that corresponds to the website which the store belongs to. The order can be processed from there.

The WebSite X5 Manager app shows a list of all the websites which are linked to it. When you tap on the name of a website, you will open its dashboard, that gives you a panorama of the information on it. There is also a menu with links to the various sections. Open a section and use the commands you find there to process orders, approve or remove comments, approve a new user registration, etc.

The dashboard may include the following sections, depending on the features that are included in a particular website:

Statistics
Blog: for more information, see How to handle comments from the online Control Panel
Comments and votes: for more information, see How to handle comments from the online Control Panel
Members’ Area: for more information, see How to create a Members' Area and define access to it
E-commerce cart: for more information, see How to handle orders and product availability in stock
Dynamic Content Object: for more information, see How to work with the Dynamic Content Object
